Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Takes Los Angeles to Cloud Computing Module

    Boston, MA 06/20/2014 (wallstreetpr) – In what could be termed as one of the triumphs of its recent focus towards attracting more customers towards cloud computing, the biggest software developer Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has convinced the County of Los Angeles to move to its Office 365 for Government. It is the latest addition of Counties and the cities in the U.S. to move towards cloud computing. It also signifies the greater importance being attached to cloud computing by the new chief executive officer.

    Los Angeles To Move To Cloud                       

    Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) disclosed that over 100K employees of the Los AngelesCounty will move towards its cloud computing module. It includes approximately 20K law enforcement personnel also. As a result, Microsoft Consulting Services will start the migration process of Los AngelesCounty to its Office 365 next month. The company’s partner En Pointe Technology has been advised to manage the agreement.

    By taking the County to Microsoft 365, Los AngelesCounty has joined the list of other local and State government entities in the U.S. It includes a significant number of counties and cities of California, San Jose cities, VenturaCounty, Santa ClaraCounty, and the County of San Bernardino besides the departments of OrangeCounty sheriffs.’

    Benefits of Cloud Computing

    The transition of the county to cloud computing offers a platform for the future since the country expects a significant movement of mobility by its staff apart from its service offerings to the public by smart apps and web services.

    Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) said that the departments would be in a position to realize the mobility benefits since mobile devices usage allows sheriff deputies to access information from the comfort of their patrol cars while case workers would be able to access files in a foster home visit. It will undoubtedly make the employees’ jobs easier as they can exchange information and concentrate on delivery of services.

    Commenting on the development, chief information officer of Los Angeles Country Richard Sanchez said that it was continuously looking towards opportunities to manage its cost effectively without compromising its service. He added that Office 365 allows them to manage its licenses and offer services to over 30 departments and also control costs.
