CHAMPION IRON PROVIDES A REPORT ON IMPACT OF LOAD-OUT FACILITIES INTERRUPTION TO SALES

    MONTRÉAL, Dec. 10, 2024 /CNW/ – (Sydney, December 11, 2024) – Champion Iron Limited CIA CIA CIAFF (“Champion” or the “Company”) is providing a report to a recent unforeseen interruption of its train load-out facility at the Bloom Lake mine (“Bloom Lake”), utilized to ship iron ore concentrate by railway to the port of Sept-Îles, Québec. On December 3, 2024, (Montréal time) a breakage occurred to a machinery required to load iron ore concentrate to rail cars. The issues have been identified and actions were promptly taken to effectuate necessary repairs; however, the situation persisted longer than expected and remains ongoing. The Company is confident to complete repairs required to resume its normal shipping activities in the coming days. While sales of iron ore concentrate are temporarily impacted, the Company’s operations remain unaffected with iron ore concentrate being stockpiled at Bloom Lake.

The Company ships iron ore concentrate from Bloom Lake by rail, to a ship loading port in Sept-Îles, Québec, and has delivered its iron ore concentrate globally, including in China, Japan, the Middle East, Europe, South Korea, India and Canada. In addition to Bloom Lake, Champion owns a portfolio of exploration and development projects in the Labrador Trough, including the Kamistiatusset Project, located a few kilometres south-east of Bloom Lake, and the Cluster II portfolio of properties, located within 60 km south of Bloom Lake.
