Elon Musk’s SpaceX And T-Mobile Go Live With Starlink-Powered Satellite-To-Cell Service: Here’s How Much It Will Cost

On Sunday, T-Mobile U.S. Inc. TMUS offered free access to its satellite-to-cell beta service, powered by SpaceX’s Starlink, for all users.

What Happened: According to T-Mobile, 500,000 square miles of the U.S., previously unreachable by terrestrial towers, can now maintain connectivity.

When the service officially launches in July, it will be included at no extra cost for customers on T-Mobile’s premium Go5G Next plan. Other T-Mobile users can add it for $15 per month.

For a limited time, beta testers on other T-Mobile plans can lock in an Early Adopter Discount. Until March 1, they can save $5 per month, bringing the cost down to $10 per month.

Customers on Verizon Communications VZ, AT&T T, or other networks can also access T-Mobile Starlink without switching. Once the beta ends in July, the service will be available for $20 per month.

The service initially offers text via satellite, with voice and data features to follow.

Device Compatability: Most smartphones, released in the last four years, will support T-Mobile Starlink beta, but satellite connectivity requires optimization for the best experience. This includes the iPhone 14 and later, the Google Pixel 9 series, Samsung Galaxy A14–A54, and Galaxy S21.

Why It Matters: Last month, Apple Inc. AAPL integrated Starlink satellite capabilities into its iOS 18.3 update, allowing iPhone users to access satellite texting.

Previously, T-Mobile highlighted Starlink’s role in providing connectivity during the California wildfires, showcasing the resilience of its network.

T-Mobile exceeded expectations in its fourth-quarter results, posting earnings of $2.57 per share, above the analyst estimate of $2.26.

Price Action: T-Mobile’s stock rose 0.31% to $247 in after-hours trading after closing at $246.24 on Friday, down 0.38%, according to Benzinga Pro data.
